Scope
This policy covers every record held in the Scholaris Global Research Index: institutions, researchers, publications, journals and the relationships between them.
Scholaris is a metadata index. It does not host full-text articles and does not republish content it is not licensed to distribute.
Record lifecycle
Records are harvested from authoritative sources, resolved to a canonical identifier, deduplicated by content hash, and stored with the date they were first seen, last checked and last changed.
When a refreshed payload differs from the stored record, the changed fields are written to a dated revision so that any value on the site can be traced to the retrieval that produced it.
Records that disappear upstream are retained with their last known state and marked as unverified at the next refresh rather than silently deleted.
Accountability
Every harvest is logged as an ingestion run recording the scope, start and finish time, records seen, added, changed and deduplicated, and any error encountered.
Coverage figures published on this site are read from the database at request time. They are never hard-coded.
